Virginia Dare Imperial Knife Co. Advertising Pocket Knife, c. 1936–1955
Anti-snipe: bids in the final 2 minutes push the deadline back by 2 minutes — no last-second wins.
A small advertising pocket knife with a cream-colored pearlescent handle stamped "Virginia Dare" in red script — the kind of promotional piece a wine or extract salesman would have handed out decades ago. Made by the Imperial Knife Company under their Hammer Brand line, which dates this example to somewhere between 1936 and 1955. Details: - Manufacturer: Imperial Knife Company (Hammer Brand line) - Date range: 1936–1955 - Advertising text: "Virginia Dare" (red script on handle) - Handle: cream pearlescent celluloid-style scales with nickel bolsters - Blade: single, clip-point style - Closed length: approximately 2" (per ruler in photo) Blade shows light surface oxidation and the bolsters have some age patina, but the handle graphics are still legible and the knife opens and closes. A solid little piece of mid-century advertising history.
