1964 Kennedy Half Dollar, 90% Silver

The first year of the Kennedy half dollar — struck just months after the assassination and snapped up by the public almost immediately. This one shows nice detail on both the obverse portrait and the Presidential seal reverse, with good luster still present. Details: - Date: 1964 - Mint mark: none visible on reverse — Philadelphia (no mint mark) - Denomination: Half Dollar - Series: Kennedy Half Dollar, first year of issue - Composition: 90% silver (last year at full silver content) - Designer initials: "FG" (Frank Gasparro) visible on reverse Circulated with light wear and some minor contact marks on the fields, but details are sharp and the coin presents well. A solid example of a perennially popular silver half. Fun fact: 1964 was the only year the Kennedy half dollar was struck in 90% silver — Congress switched to a 40% silver clad composition in 1965, partly because the public was hoarding the silver originals as fast as they were minted. *Generated with Gavel AI — please ask questions if the description doesn't seem right.
